The Department of Physiology at Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College (BJGMC), Pune, is committed to delivering exceptional education and fostering a nurturing environment for students.

This department focuses on how the human body functions, covering neurophysiology, endocrinology, cardiovascular systems, and more. This department explores the functions of various body systems, helping students understand the physiological mechanisms that regulate health and disease. It covers key areas such as neurophysiology, endocrinology, and cardiovascular physiology.

Through its dedicated faculty, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and commitment to research and education, the Department of Physiology at BJGMC continues to excel in imparting quality education and contributing to advancements in medical science.

Mission :

  • To develop undergraduate and Post graduate students of high standards in terms of knowledge acquisition, attitude and communication.
  • To carry out curriculum development, imply innovative teaching- learning as well as assessment methods.
  • To strengthen PG competency, skill set by exploring new research tools and avenues for dissertation.
  • To facilitate UG/PG, faculty for quality education.
  • To nurture a cordial environment by mentoring and counselling to make BJGMC Pune, a place of benevolent venue for learning.
  • To actively participate, contribute, assist and aid in building an efficient administrative team in order to provide a harmonious educational environment.

Activities in the year 2023-2024

  • Haematology Lab renovation
  • Successful conduction of BCME workshop by MEU co-ordinator Dr Sangeeta Gawali,MEU member Dr Monika Nachane along with MEU team
  • Conduction of Yoga classes for UG and PG students as per NMC norms
  • Dr Sangeeta Gawali,Prof and HOD working as CTU member secretary and looking after ethical research work
  • Guidance to UG students for participation events like quiz in UG conference Respirare
  • Dr Sangeeta Gawali,Prof and HOD successfully completed her ACME course PhD and is a recognised PhD guide
  • Dr Tejaswini Sonawne,Associate Professor successfully completed her FAIMER and ACME course and got registered for PhD
  • Dr Monika Nachane,Assistant Professor successfully completed her ACME course and got registered for PhD
