The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (DVL) at BJ Government Medical College (BJGMC), Pune, is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of skin disorders, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and leprosy. The department provides comprehensive dermatological care, advanced treatments, and specialized training for medical students and postgraduates.

Key Areas of Expertise:

  • Clinical Dermatology – Diagnosis and treatment of common and complex skin diseases, including eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, acne, and fungal infections.
  • Venereology (Sexually Transmitted Diseases – STDs/STIs) – Management of syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV-related skin conditions, and other STIs.
  • Leprosy Management – Early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of leprosy patients to prevent disabilities.
  • Dermatosurgery – Minor surgical procedures such as mole excision, scar revision, and nail surgeries.
  • Cosmetic Dermatology – Advanced aesthetic treatments including chemical peels, laser therapy, and botox fillers.
  • Phototherapy & Laser Treatment – Specialized treatments for vitiligo, psoriasis, and other chronic skin conditions.

Services Provided

  • The Department of Dermatology is a tertiary referral center and provides out patient/inpatient services for the full spectrum of dermatology diseases with a wide variety of amenities.
  • Caters to average 250-300 daily OPD patients and emergency services 24×7.
  • The department runs the speciality clinics during OPD hours catering tothe needs of the diverse dermatological disease patients viz. vitiligo, psoriasis, paediatricdermatology, dermatopathologyetc.
  • Dedicated Leprosy center under the aegis of NLEP and STI services with counselling facility.
